Honoring Our Elders
The Arc of Baltimore celebrated a very important group of people in August as part of our 60th anniversary year. Nearly 70 people who are age 65 or older receive support services from one of The Arc’s programs. Many of them attended a luncheon where they were recognized for their years of living, each received a certificate, and all enjoyed music of their era and some sing-a-long for fun. Other awards were presented for artistry, recycling, musicianship, and even “partying.” Evelyn Peters is pictured here and was recognized as the eldest of the group. Evelyn was born in 1921.
The 9th annual Art in the Round is scheduled for November 12th and art submissions are now being accepted. The deadline is September 17th. Click here for further information.
Offers parents of children with disabilities a unique opportunity to take their children with developmental disabilities (and their siblings) to a safe environment with trained volunteers who will look after them. The next scheduled opportunity is August 14th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Arc’s tagline is: “Advocacy, Resources and Community for People with Developmental Disabilities.” We take that seriously.
