Events

Events at The Arc of Baltimore come large and small with something for everyone – golfers, members of the community, artists, parents of children with disabilities, campers, etc. Some are for fun and some are for learning and gathering resources for individuals with developmental disabilities. See what The Arc has to offer.

The Arc’s Celebrity Golf Tournament

This year’s tournament, our 14th annual, had more than 200 golfers on a beautiful day in June on two courses, Woodlands and Diamond Ridge in Windsor Mills, Maryland. Click here to see photos

The annual event now raises more than $100,000 due to the generosity of our sponsors and the golfers who take advantage of a great assortment of silent auction items, including trips, mountain getaways, sports memorabilia, and tempting personal services at day spas and luxurious hotels.

Thanks to our tournament sponsor, Scientific Plant Service and a host of other corporate partners. Click here to see the many partners that sponsor the tournament.

Thanks to our committee for once again leading the way: Mike Eikenberg,Expressway Office Solutions; Chuck Shettle, Exxon/Mobil Fleet Sales; Loretta Letke, Unisys; Joe Pandullo, CTI Smith Barney; and Allan Sanders, Weil Akman Baylin & Coleman.

Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner

Celebrating a tradition of volunteer and staff commitment each year, the 2008 dinner was held on May 7 at Timonium's Crown Plaza (formerly the Holiday Inn Select). With WMAR’s Jamie Costello as master of ceremonies and an array of special people that were acknowledged, the evening was
a reflection of our community at its best.

Art in the Round
The talent and artistry of individuals with developmental disabilities is showcased every year at The Arc’s Art in the Round Exhibit and Auction. A selection committee reviews approximately 100 pieces submitted each year for a final group of 60 pieces to exhibit at the American Visionary Arts Museum. A veritable feast of hors d’oeuvres along with a wine tasting are enjoyed during the exhibit and auction and lead up to the final and furious bidding for the art. Artists look on with pride as their work fetches profits for their pockets and artaficionados grin over the unique piece acquired for a modest sum.

Leonard WilliamsThis year’s Art in the Round was held on October 14, 2008 drew more than 250 people to enjoy the creations of artists with developmental disabilities. Guests enjoyed the exhibit along with tempting epicurean delights, cold drinks and a wine tasting. Silent auction bids raised more than $2,500 with 60% going to the artists and the balance supporting purchases of art supplies and classes.
